Decide whether the YSL Museum fits your day

Choose the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech when you want a fashion-and-design museum rather than a garden outing. Near Jardin Majorelle on Rue Yves Saint Laurent, the museum has a permanent exhibition devoted to Yves Saint Laurent’s work, a temporary-exhibition hall, a bookshop and a terrace café. Its Studio KO building is part of the experience: the official description connects the lace-like brick façade to the weave of fabric.1 4

It is a good allocation of a Marrakech sightseeing slot for visitors interested in couture, exhibition design or architecture. It is less suitable if your main aim is shade, planting and outdoor wandering; that is the different experience at Jardin Majorelle. Do not treat the sites as interchangeable admissions simply because they are close together.

As checked on October 30, 2026, the museum lists daily opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Wednesdays, with last entry at 5:30 p.m.1 Those are operating details, not a promise for a future date. Check the slot displayed in the official checkout before committing to transport or a tightly packed itinerary.

Buy a valid ticket from the official source

Use the museum’s linked official ticket office, tickets.jardinmajorelle.com. The museum states that this is the only official site for a valid QR code and says it does not accept responsibility for tickets from unauthorized websites.2 Check the browser address carefully before entering payment details.

The ticket interface asks you to select the site or sites, nationality, visit date and entry time. It currently presents an individual Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech choice alongside Jardin Majorelle products and a combined-ticket option.2 Select the product named for the visit you actually want; do not infer what an old reseller listing, a garden confirmation or another visitor’s screenshot includes.

Prices are quoted in Moroccan dirhams, can change, and are the prices shown at the time of order. The published terms also say that an on-site purchase carries a supplement. If price is decisive, use the official checkout for your actual date and category rather than relying on a cached price list.3

Before paying, check these points:

  • The ticket names the correct site, date and entry time.
  • Your party can reach the entrance before the booked time, not merely arrive in the Majorelle area.
  • Any concession or student category is supported by the required document. The terms say photo ID may be requested and that student tickets are checked against a student card valid on the visit date.3
  • The ticket is saved on a charged phone or printed clearly. The official terms permit either presentation method.3

Know what a time slot commits you to

A QR ticket is valid only for the site, date and entry time printed on it. Under the current online terms, visitors may arrive up to 29 minutes after the booked time; after that, the ticket is considered invalid and cannot be reimbursed. The order is firm and final: tickets are not exchangeable or refundable.3

That makes a timed museum ticket a poor fit for an uncertain arrival day, a transfer with no buffer, or an itinerary that depends on finishing another attraction at an exact minute. If you buy a combined ticket, its terms require the visit to start at Jardin Majorelle, and the stated time is the arrival time at the garden entrance.3

Ramadan timing needs its own check. The terms say the times applied during Ramadan are shown when you order and can differ from the rest of the year.3 The official pages reviewed do not state a general visitor dress code, a child-age policy or museum-specific personal-photography rules. Confirm those directly with the museum if they affect your booking, rather than extending rules from another site to this one.

Pair it with Jardin Majorelle without rushing

The simplest choice is often one site, not both. Pick the YSL Museum for garments, sketches, audiovisual elements and the building; pick Jardin Majorelle for its designed garden. The museum’s permanent exhibition presents selected pieces from the foundation’s collection and says garments are rotated for conservation, so a visit should not be planned around seeing a particular garment unless the museum currently advertises it.4

If you want both on the same day, put the garden first when the slots allow it. Jardin Majorelle is currently listed from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with last entry at 5 p.m.; the YSL Museum opens later and has a later last entry.5 This is a sequencing aid, not a recommendation to squeeze both visits into a fixed number of minutes. Book compatible slots, allow for each entrance and keep one of the visits optional if your day is already crowded.

The official ticket office does not make it safe to assume every product covers both places. Read the product name and the checkout summary, then keep each QR confirmation available. For a wider view of how this area fits among Marrakech’s main sights, use the first-visit Marrakech guide rather than trying to make a cross-city attraction sprint.

What to look for inside

The core display is not presented as a conventional chronological survey alone. The museum describes a 400 m² permanent exhibition space designed by Christophe Martin, with selected designs shown around themes such as Masculine-Feminine, Black, Africa and Morocco, Imaginary Voyages, Gardens and Art. It also identifies sketches, photographs, runway material, film, voices and music as part of the exhibition design.4

Give the architecture a moment before and after the galleries. Studio KO designed the museum’s brick envelope around contrasts between curved and straight lines and between a fabric’s weave and a couture jacket’s lining.4 That is a reason to choose this stop even if you already plan to see Majorelle, but it is not a reason to assume an external photo session or specific interior photography is allowed. Ask staff about the rules in force on the day.

The museum’s official visitor page also lists a bookshop and Café Le Studio. It says both accept credit card only; the café lists a table-booking contact, but it does not publish a current menu, opening schedule or availability guarantee on the visitor page.1 Treat a café stop as a possible pause, not as a time-critical meal reservation unless the café confirms it directly.

For an evening that complements a museum day without turning it into a club plan, see Marrakech evenings without clubbing. It separates a flexible square visit, a meal with music and a date-specific cultural event without assuming one will follow the museum.

Arrival, access and family checks

Save the museum address as Rue Yves Saint Laurent, 40000 Marrakech, and use the entrance named on your ticket.1 The official information confirms the address but does not establish a universal taxi fare, parking arrangement or exact journey time from every riad. Build the arrival buffer around your own accommodation and current transport conditions; the Marrakech airport arrival guide can help with the separate airport-to-city decision.

Jardin Majorelle’s official site states that its garden and museums are accessible to disabled persons.5 It does not provide the museum-specific detail needed to assess a particular wheelchair, transfer, stroller or low-stamina visit. Before purchase, ask the YSL Museum about the route from drop-off to entrance, door widths or lifts where relevant, accessible toilets, seating, companion arrangements and any assistance procedure. This is more reliable than treating a broad accessibility statement as a guarantee that every part of a visit will work for your needs.

For families, the online terms establish documentation checks for certain rates but the sources reviewed do not publish a general child age threshold, family ticket rule or stroller policy. Confirm the category and practical access directly before booking. The exhibition is a museum visit, not a supervised activity, so plan breaks and close supervision around your own group rather than expecting a venue-specific childcare service.

A low-risk booking checklist

  1. Choose the museum only, or decide whether a compatible Majorelle slot is genuinely worth adding.
  2. Open the official ticket office from the museum or Jardin Majorelle website and verify the URL.
  3. Select the exact product, date, time and category; review the current total in MAD before payment.
  4. Read the late-arrival and no-refund terms, then allow a real arrival buffer.
  5. Save the QR ticket, bring any required ID or student document, and check the live museum hours again the day before.
  6. Contact the museum in advance for access, child-category, photography, bag or dress questions that the official public pages do not answer.
